HealthRIGHT 360 is seeking full-time Substance Use Disorder Counselors for our residential program located on the campus of Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in the Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles, CA.  The program is contracted with Department of Public Health’s (DPH) Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) program for residential drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services for up to 99 adult men and women. Sign-on bonuses available for those with proper registration or certification!

The SUD Counselor is responsible for facilitating patient education and group counseling sessions. They work in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure best possible treatment outcome for the client.  We work with high-risk populations from a variety of backgrounds providing trauma-informed care aimed at reducing the harmful impacts of substance use. Our programs are open and welcoming to adult participants of any gender identity.

HEALTHRIGHT 360 OFFERS:

  • Compensation range of $29.50 - $32.50/hour for Certified Counselors or $23 - $28.50/hour for Registered Counselors; pay based on experience and certification/registration

OVERVIEW:

  • This is a union position onsite in Los Angeles
  • The Substance Use Counselor works as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary treatment team


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registration or Certification with drug and alcohol counseling organization recognized by DHCS (CAADE, CADTP, CCAPP, CADC II or CADC)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a certified or registered Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor in a substance abuse treatment or community mental health setting
  • Experience or willingness to work with vulnerable populations in a residential program
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet applications
  • In compliance with the California Department of Public Health's mandate, all employees must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination
  • Ability to work full-time and a partial weekend (Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday)
  • Must not be on active parole or probation
  • Spanish/English fluency preferred, but not required

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintain an assigned caseload of clients seeking substance use treatment and mental health treatment
  • Facilitate patient education and group counseling sessions, carefully tracking client progress
  • Utilize trauma informed care while applying motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and evidence-based practices
  • Maintain compliance with all clinical documentation
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the treatment team including the Case Manager, Clinical Therapist, Medical, and Psychiatrist
