Presidio is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused AV Support Technician for a 12-month contract position to work onsite in Columbia, South Carolina. This role is critical in ensuring seamless operation of all Audio-Visual (AV) and collaboration technology across conference rooms, meeting spaces, and huddle rooms, with a strong emphasis on supporting Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) video conferencing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • The AV Support Technician will be the primary point of contact for all in-room AV technology, focusing on end-user support and proactive maintenance.
  • Tier 1 & 2 Technical Support: Provide hands-on, day-to-day support, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to conference room AV equipment. This includes displays, projectors, microphones, speakers, in-room PCs, and control panels (e.g., Crestron, Extron).
  • BYOD/Collaboration Support: Expertly assist users connecting their personal devices (laptops, tablets) to the in-room system for video conferencing and presentation purposes. This involves proficiency with various collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex) and wireless sharing solutions.
  • System Maintenance and Monitoring: Perform routine preventive maintenance, system health checks, firmware updates, and calibration to maximize equipment uptime and performance.
  • Incident Management: Accurately log, track, and close support tickets, providing clear communication and timely resolution to end-users.
  • End-User Training: Instruct users on the proper operation of the AV and collaboration technology, creating and maintaining basic user guides and quick-start instructions.
  • Room Setup and Breakdown: Ensure meeting rooms are fully operational before scheduled events and dismantle/secure equipment afterward, as necessary.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with tracking, labeling, and managing the inventory of AV equipment and spare parts.
  • Escalation: Coordinate with higher-level technical teams or external vendors for complex hardware and network issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of proven experience in an Audio-Visual or IT support role, specifically supporting corporate meeting and conference room environments.
  • Video Conferencing Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of major video conferencing software and their hardware integration (e.g., Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, and their BYOD connectivity methods).
  • AV Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with the signal flow, installation, and troubleshooting of core AV equipment (e.g., audio mixers, DSPs, matrix switchers, and control systems from vendors like Crestron, Extron, or similar).
  • IT Fundamentals: Basic understanding of network principles, including IP networking, wireless connectivity, and troubleshooting PC/laptop-to-AV system connectivity issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly under pressure.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional, patient, and friendly demeanor when interacting with staff at all levels.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and comfortably work on ladders to install or service overhead equipment like projectors or ceiling speakers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ or an AV-specific certification like Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
