We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Network Engineer to join our technology team supporting our customer in Atmore, AL. This is a direct hire position and will require daily onsite work. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving enterprise network and infrastructure systems that support daily operations across Tribal Government departments. The ideal candidate is technically strong, solutions-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where reliability, security, and performance are critical.
This position plays a key role in ensuring secure connectivity, infrastructure stability, and ongoing modernization efforts. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, ownership, adaptability, and a commitment to organizational values centered around integrity, accountability, and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineer, deploy, and support enterprise networking infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless environments, and security appliances
- Monitor system health, identify performance bottlenecks, and troubleshoot connectivity or infrastructure issues
- Administer physical and virtual server environments, shared storage platforms, and backup/recovery systems
- Strengthen cybersecurity posture through firewall administration, vulnerability mitigation, and security best practices
- Maintain disaster recovery procedures and ensure infrastructure documentation remains accurate and up to date
- Support secure remote connectivity and maintain reliable network access across multiple locations
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware/software procurement, licensing, and technical support engagements
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues and provide guidance to junior IT personnel
- Participate in rotating after-hours support to address critical network or infrastructure incidents
- Research, recommend, and implement new technologies that improve operational efficiency and reliability
- Perform additional technical duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Comparable work experience (7+ years) may be considered in place of formal education
- Required certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Minimum of 3 years supporting enterprise-level networking and infrastructure environments
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, wireless networking, virtualization platforms such as VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V, SAN storage, and backup technologies
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity controls, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings or weekends when required
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening
